Trott and Jennings are Cara Jennings and Sophie Trott – award-winning, multi-skilled creatives who write, perform and produce comedy and drama.
We met and discovered the joys of improvising and writing together at a workshop with Improbable in 2011. Since then, we’ve had the best of times creating live shows and work for TV, audio and digital platforms.
Sometimes historical, sometimes contemporary, our stories span four centuries and delve into the personal to reveal the political. We tell bold, left-field tales to make you feel and think.
Our work includes writing Urban Myth for Sky and Handel & Hendrix (starring David Haig as Handel).
In April 2025, we completed a UK tour of our beloved, rollicking dressing room comedy The Astonishing Adventures of Kitty and Peg, following a sell-out London run in 2024. Here’s what some audiences said:
“Loved every minute of it – utterly bonkers and totally real at the same time.”
“Really funny, and clever. I laughed loads. I really liked the crime/dead body layer, and the twist really added something. And the gender/social media stuff was brilliant too.”
“Totally blown away by the play. It was brilliant. Kitty and Peg are incredible characters and the writing and structure were superb. I was swept up into another world – totally unexpected to be in that world too! It was so wild and eccentric and clever and witty. The details were breathtaking.”
“So FUNNY. I love the backstage-ness of it.”
And here’s what some of our colleagues have said about us:
“How clever you are – and what a great team you make. Your characters are such a joy on the page.”
– Morwenna Gordon, Commissioner of Handel & Hendrix, Producer of Bridget Christie’s The Change (C4)
“Sophie and Cara are bloody marvellous.”
– Mary Swan, Artistic Director, Proteus Theatre, Basingstoke
